Faucets

The main resource faucets of the game are natural resources like minaral deposites, herb plants or chopable trees which can be gathered by players and items dropped by monsters when they are killed by players.

These items can either be traded for money at NPC traders which can then be exchanged for consumable goods or equipment or used by players to craft equipment. Crafting should also require some ingredients which can only be bought from NPCs to avoid complete independence of the players from NPC wares which would result in an inflantion because there wouldn't be a money drain anymore.

Drains

The main resource drains are the consumption of consumables like amunition or potions from NPCs and equipment decay. Equipment should only have a limited lifespan to make it necessary for the players to constantly create and buy new equipment. Without such a decay the equipment market would quickly be oversaturated and crafting would become unnecessary.
