The Mana World Game System

I will write here my thoughts concerning the game system - RPG rules, economy etc.

Quests

General

  • Quests should be done only once, especially these where you can get fine equipment from. Being able to complete them several times means uncontrolled income of finest items in incredible amounts which is generally one of main reasons of the economy collapsing. Already there are persons in game who has 100 short swords and sell them for small money to everyone interested.
  • Quest items should have good stats but shouldn't be bought by NPCs.
  • If an item is available as a quest reward it shouldn't be bought from NPCs or dropped by monsters. Such items should be a different class with different rules.
  • Best items in game should be always available from quests. And there quest should be constructed in the way which will make second char abuse not malicious for the game system (I will elaborate it later on, anyway it is about quest time consuming, level, complication, randomness, and difficulty).

Stingers quest

  • It is a generally newbie quest, the reward bow is worthless for the people able to kill red scorpions. I suggest changing quest requirement to eg. 50 black stingers.

Monsters

General

  • Food should be mainly dropped by lower level monsters, and have very high buying prices at NPCs, so the newbies could be mainly healing providers for higher level players. Main problem in MMORPGs is the high level fighters are generally independent and even if they can't make something they can always get it as a monster drop or buy from a NPC. We shouldn't repeat that mistake.
  • There shouldn't be "clone monsters" that has (almost) the same HP and same stats (eg. Evil Mushrooms and Snakes). Stats of monsters should smoothly increase along with a player levels. Of course the should be some incredibly strong monsters which can be killed only in teams etc.

Maggots

  • Roasted maggots drop rate should be increased, so they would become significiant profit income for newbies, since higher level players are using them to heal themselves. NPC price should be decreased.
  • Maggots shouldn't drop daggers. Level 10 newbie can get avg. 10-15 of them daily which gives about 7,5k gc. For example a short sword is sold for 8k by players. [DONE]

Fire Goblins

  • Where are they? Killing maggots all the time is deeply boring, especially at start. [DONE]

Black Scorpions

  • I think there should be more of them and they should have a little higher level. [DONE]

Yellow Slimes

  • Why they are stronger and gives the same experience as green slimes? It makes players to be not interested into hunting them, I suggest increase exp. for them to 30-40 points. [DONE]
