Easter 2010 was the most massive event ever coded for The Mana World Legacy, rivalizing with Iilia in Complexity. Only a few events and quests made later would be able to compete with it in code size, including Easter 2012 and the Legacy Doomsday Event.

Players would begin the quest by hunting for 20 colored easter eggs in several objects for the Old Woman in Hurnscald. The Old Woman would reward player with a Black Rose for their efforts.

This, however, was just the premise for the main event. When players died with the Black Rose on them, they would be warped to an island outside The Mana World. There they met Legacy:The Doctor, who was investigating a force draining life power from the island. The Rose would also be replaced by a dark petal.

The Doctor's investigation would have several stages, with the NPC moving through the map as the quest advanced.

First Stage

The Doctor would be near a dying tree, and trying to find a way to counter death. The player could then give the Doctor a Lifestone, "basic level one magic item". Which while very common in TMW, was not from the parallel dimension where the event would be taking place.

Second Stage

Doctor would now be at a field filled with Wisps. He was still investigating why that dimension/world was filled with death to an unnatural extend. The Doctor would be using a special glass to identify if something or someone has gone through The Void and had a theory that something was draining the life from it. For this endeavor, he was studying the "blobs of light" aka. Wisps.

Player would be able to propose several theories, until the Doctor accepted one.

Third Stage

The Doctor would now be close to stones, and closer to the cave where the final battle would happen. He would be using an "ordinary megalectrometer" to detect disturbances. Now comes the confusing part.

He would ask for an item connected with death, a deathly item. Player could give a Spectre Powder, Poltergeist Powder, Diseased Heart, JackO Soul, Undead Ear, Undead Eye, Bone, Skull, Dark Crystal, Rotten Rags, or the Dark Petal.

The Doctor would refuse the Soul and the Rags, and giving the petal would require confirmation as player would be unable to leave temporarily without the petal (they would be required to defeat the boss).

Player would be warned the quest was nearing its end. If player still had the dark petal, they would be able to request to return to TMW. This would terminate the quest for the character, permanently.

Fourth Stage

The fourth position is the only position with any serious sign of life - there are quite a lot of living trees there, packed quite densely. In the middle of this area, atop cliffs overlooking water, is a fruit tree.

The Doctor would request a special sort of lens, which could be made in a similar fashion to the Monster Oil Potion minigame. It would be required Pearls (to remove color), Iron Potions, Concentration Potions, Slow Poison Potions, and Water. Also, a Dark Crystal as the base reagent.

Player would need be careful to limit the dark energy on the potion, as well as not drawing the attention of the malign force.

Once lens were finished, player would gain 150,000 experience points, and fifth and final location would be unlocked.

Fifth Stage

There was no time to complete this to the original plan, so a short easter egg was included there.

Player would now be able to enter on the cave and fight with Xakelbael the Dark.

Trivia

During launch date, an uncaught bug during testing would cause the server to restart every 15 minutes.

The final boss, Xakelbael the Dark, would be controlled manually by several staff members, including the event lead author, Freeyorp.

Xakelbael's second appearance, ten years later, during Doomsday Events, would use a NPC, keeping the name as the only enemy to never have been spawned as a monster during TMW Legacy lifetime, and the most memorable TMW Legacy boss ever. (Although it is listed in monster database)

The special event island would later be reused as GM Island.

If the player had only one lifestone, they would be able to ask the Doctor for a Strange Coin as payment. This was a missable easter egg.

If the player failed to conclude the lens, but had got close enough and ran out of time, a Flawed Lens would be made instead. Player would still need to try to make a new set of lens.
