Ryan is one of the guards stationed at Tulimshar. He is located south of the town's Soul Menhir and just north of the Sandstorm Desert. If he's not asleep (as is the case if the player does not have the ability to use magic), Ryan will warn you about the highly dangerous black scorpions and inadvertently teach you a spell; Ekinu, another guard, instructs him to shout "#itenplz" and run around, aggravating and distracting the scorpion from Ekinu, who can then kill it.
