From The Mana World

Throwing out some ideas

I see two main areas:

  • Calenders used by the player community (Hindu, Christian, Wiccan, Aztec, Muslim, ...)
  • In-game calendars belonging to the various societies in the Mana World

Player community calendar and holidays

The holidays noticed/celebrated by the player community today is more or less like the following.

  • Calendar: the modern Western one
  • Holidays: ”Western commercial holidays” (Easter, Halloween, Christmas, New Year)
  • Gameplay: events (mostly using rare monsters and items)

If possible I would like these to have as little impact on game play as possible, and rather focus on the indigenous Mana World holidays. Of course, nothing says some holiday in TMW cannot coincide with Hanukkah, Divali or Valentine’s Day.

In-game calendars and holidays

Not much has been conceptualized yet, as far as I can discern. Some ideas:

  • Calendars: Lunar, Luni-Solar, others based on other prominent stellar objects
  • Holidays: eclipses, seasonal flows, births, deaths and other memorable moments
  • Gameplay: seasons, monster activity, quests, item availability, spell working

I’d love to help coming up with something for TMW regarding time and space keeping/maintaining (calendars/holidays). ✎ Kess☽ 00:13, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
