Note: this is incompletely developed.

This is my second magic system proposal.

Magic Energy

  • Found in crystals
  • Gained at birth by all living things, based on parents (inheritance of ability), region of birth (crystal environment), and time of birth (planet alignment).

Crystals

  • Emanate energy signatures/patterns based on type and shape
  • Must be aligned into different geomertrical/symmetrical patterns to synergize different effects and strengths thereof.
  • ??? Can be cut (crafted) to change their shape for maximal efficiency or to marginally manipulate their energy pattern

Types of crystals

  • Sun
  • Moon
  • Meteor
  • Air
  • Earth
  • Water
  • Fire
  • Life (for healing, restoration)
  • Force (for telekinesis)

Spell Effects

  • Computed (no standard spell set) from the alignments of all living things, crystals, and planets
  • This means that one can experiment with crystals and alignments to create spell effects
Note: This would increase the fun factor for players, as well as taking the burden off of developers to maintain a standard spell list.

Alignment

  • Weapons must be designed to hold crystals in different alignments
  • Spell casters must use ornaments in which crystals are placed in geometrically designed positions (based on the spell effect)
  • Spell casters must either equip ornaments onto different equipment or hold them in their hands
  • Multiple ornaments can also be aligned with the body and with eachother to create a spell effect (postures and poses)
