Mathias "Little Bird" was once a proud adventurer, successful and courageous. He led many a daring band of adventurers up, down, through and around the worst dangers the world had to offer. He was at the peak of his life when something happened. No one knows what or why, but it left Little Bird a charred wreck of what he used to be. He seemed to have lost all conscious thought, and fell into apathy. He started drinking, and ultimately ended up broke and lost, stranded at the outskirts of civilisation in the little town of (town).

The name "Little Bird" stems from his life as an adventurer; he used to be bony but strong, and very dexterous and fast. His face was lean and narrow, and his fair hair was always in a tall mohawk, his trademark. It's ironic that his current state is such an opposite - he has let himself go totally, his body being bulky and ungainly, and his once-stylish hair being long and greasy.

He wears a sordid collection of trinkets around his neck; old medallions, pocket watches, animal bones and small bits of junk tied on pieces of string, some multicoloured bird-feathers tied around a rune-carved piece of wood, and so on. He guards these trinkets with his life, and no one has dared to touch them (or him, for that matter).

He sometimes wakes up a bit from his torpor, and agrees to tell a tale of forlorn heroes for a coin or two. He also plays the pan-pipes with quite some skill, though his songs are always melancholic and depressive. He seems to long back to his former life, and is oftimes found crying into the night, cursing in foreign languages and long-forgotten hex-curses.

Some say that there is a connection between Little Bird's fall-from-grace and the mysterious traveller known as Amelia Haddings, but no one knows anything for sure...
