(fix up on adviser role)
(Outlined what I'm aiming to work on for the rest of the year)
Line 1: Line 1:
==Adviser==
Meh, this page is a dump.
Advisers serve at the request and desire of TMWC to assist them in proposals and decision making (i.e. advise). Typically inactive day-to-day, they are often experienced or old leaders in a scope of interest (programmer, content creator, gm, server admin, etc.).
===Responsibilities===
Advise, typically around their area of focus when they participated.
===Rights===
Participate in making decisions with TMWC (Note: Advisers have no formal vote on the committee).
===Making Someone an Adviser===
* Retiring a TMWC member.
* Nominated by a TMWC member, approved through committee.
===Getting Rid of an Adviser===
* Consensus by TMWC.

==Old==
On the works until I forget about it: 1. Promotionals for Social Media 2. Horned Worm 3. Beach debris 4. The Mana World: Chronicles Demo
[[Category: Projects]]

What I'm working on and will be working on:
The concept of Chronicles is similar to the TMW-Adventures concept in some ways (easily made world using existing TMW content) but uses smaller and contained maps with few to no open area maps. A linear storyline moves the character from town to a series of woodland and cave scenarios where the character will battle monsters and humanoids to get the weapons, armor and equipment needed to be able to challenge the next area. The end of the story may involve killing a boss or solving a complex mini-game to prevent the coming of a demi-god on the world, something like that. Once the "end" is completed, the Chronicle is over. For the demo, that is the end of the game. For versions beyond the demo, the character can leave the world and go to a pocket dimension that hosts an Order dedicated to combatting the forces of darkness as they travel throughout time and space. Each new story written for TMW: Chronicles would have a portal linked through this pocket dimension and would play as its own game. Content releases for TMW: Chronicles would be small and fully complete games that might need some bug fixes, but no expansions.

1. Clean up (Add frames to equipment to include new attack forms, new weapons for new attack forms)

2. Tonori Expansion (Ghost monster, some equipment, NPC poses and accessories)

3. Crypt (XML animation testing, submitting to git)

4. Argaes Expansion - Trade City and Lumber Camp (Tileset development, new monsters)

5. Balance (Help establish game balance)

6. Barbarian Village (Assist art on being complete)

7. Thermin (Assist art on being complete)

Promotions: Peak 200 by 2015 Initiative

In addition to development projects, there is the promotions initiative I am attempting to both flesh out and participate in the execution of. Right now we are merely in the brainstorm phase of understanding what we want to do with promotions, my ideas have several points that ultimately hope to lead to: a larger number of content contributions, a larger more permanent development team and a larger player base.

My main goal is to move forward the "Peak 200 by 2015" initiative. This promotional attempt is to find whatever ways possible to drive the number of players on the official server to peak at over 200 real players. I feel to accomplish this task, we may need to:

  • Invite volunteers from The Mana World's larger community to participate in the growth of the promotions initiative.
  • More strongly define guilds and attempt to provide stronger assistance to the creation of guilds, including contributor participation in guilds and/or the guild as a content contribution team. In the past up to today, TMW guilds have a tendency to include developers and we should attempt to encourage this behavior within guilds and guild members.
  • Make a database of all media about The Mana World on the wiki.
  • Create a "Look Who's Talking About Us" wiki page with links to a large variety of reviews and youtube videos featuring The Mana World. Should include not just a link, but a description of what is included in the video to encourage viewing.
  • Shut down all old media The Mana World made from before this initiative and create, if possible, a new replacement description. Attempt to make any new descriptions, including user names and passwords, controlled by TMWC so updates can occur more easily. The promotions team would have access to these user names and passwords on an individual use basis.
  • Find out how to incorporate The Mana World as a non-profit and create advertising banners to be placed at approved locations, paid for by donations collected by a TMWC approved Treasurer.
  • Continue steady content updates and add updates about what is going on to the forums to encourage use on the forums. Keep regular wiki updates. Active forums and wiki reflect the activity in the game, though they aren't necessarily the same, they are a way to show the curious that we are both worth playing and contributing to.
  • Attempt to create a promotional alliance with: Aethyra, Whispers of Avalon, Evol Online, Manaplus, Manasource, Invertika and Source of Tales. Find ways to combine promotional efforts to include these other games, to show that we exist in not just a community of players, nor just a community of developers, but also a community of games. We *are* free 2D MMORPGs. We all want help with development. We all want to be played and all share some link to The Mana World. By showing a community of games, I believe a higher overall potential to generate contributions will occur for all games.
