What is TMW Legacy? How it differs from TMW Evolved?

TMW Legacy is the eldest TMW server, built on an eAthena fork and extensively modified. The oldest player data from around 2008~2009 and newest went to 2021~2022.

The code fork (tmwAthena) was deprecated and later deleted.

Player data and game content was migrated to the Evol2 codebase (an Hercules fork); Where it now lives.

The ported version was then dubbed TMW Evolved.

Differences

The following changes were done on TMW Evolved:

  • Monster vs Player level now can affect EXP and DROP rates.
  • Equipment dropped from monsters may have modifiers (e.g. A Miner Glove which grants Str +1)
  • When skipping tutorial, Sorfina will auto-equip you.
  • Magic spells must now be learned from NPCs, cannot be used from memory
  • Magic spells can be used on Skill Tab, and can also be moved to Shortcut List.
  • Offensive magic spells changed
  • Detsanc was removed; Betsanc now only work on party or guild mates.
  • Cindy Quest can be repeated by 2x the original key amount; However, the reward can only be obtained once.
  • Orum's Homunculus was removed in favor of Balthasar, for consistency with the Sages of Kaizei, Nikolai, Blue Sage Library Quest, Christmas 2011 and others.
  • Itenplz now resets less often than on TMWA.
