What is TMW Legacy? How it differs from TMW Evolved?

TMW Legacy is the eldest TMW server, built on an eAthena fork and extensively modified. The oldest player data from around 2008~2009 and newest went to 2021~2022.

The code fork (tmwAthena) was deprecated and later deleted.

Player data and game content was migrated to the Evol2 codebase (an Hercules fork); Where it now lives.

The ported version was then dubbed TMW Evolved.

Differences

The following changes were done on TMW Evolved:

  • You can now put up to 100 points in each stat, rather than 99.
  • Monster vs Player level now can affect EXP and DROP rates.
  • Equipment dropped from monsters may have modifiers (e.g. A Miner Glove which grants Str +1)
  • When skipping tutorial, Sorfina will auto-equip you.
  • Magic spells must now be learned from NPCs, cannot be used from memory
  • Magic spells can be used on Skill Tab, and can also be moved to Shortcut List.
  • Offensive magic spells changed
  • Detsanc was removed; Betsanc now only work on party or guild mates.
  • Kaflosh now affects the whole map.
  • Cindy Quest can be repeated by 2x the original key amount; However, the reward can only be obtained once.
  • Orum's Homunculus was removed in favor of Balthasar, for consistency with the Sages of Kaizei, Nikolai, Blue Sage Library Quest, Christmas 2011 and others.
  • Itenplz effects now last more persistently than on TMWA.
  • It now costs only 1 skill point per level to upgrade a skill
  • Total Skill Points are now limited and cannot be reset; Use them wisely!
  • Skill Points are now effective to upgrade most (if not all) skills, not just focus.
  • Focus skills rebalanced
  • Able to cast magic with heavy armor... But don't expect them to compete with real mages.
  • Max Storage size went from 300 to 500
  • Guild creation is now free and self service
  • All guilds come with a Guild Storage (500 slots, master only)
  • Max weight raised; but if it reaches 90%, you'll be unable to attack/use skills.
  • Plugh is now a passive skill.
  • @scoreboards replaced the old wrappers for @deaths and @bosspoints, provide more information, and allow you to compete with others.
  • GM Only: New command - @charrename / @forcerename. Allows GMs to change a player nickname if it is bad, instead of @block'ing them. (Trolls will still get blocked; There are tools to identify them)
  • Catalazuli no longer accepts the preceding "#". Using the hash WILL cause to fail. It's case-insensitive.
