Start date December 1st
End date January 6th
Reoccuring Yes
LocationThey are both in Legacy:Nivalis:
* Eljas at 030-2(87-41)
* Balthasar at 030-3(100-50)
Prerequisites- no level required
- Lv. 30 to do the daily quest of this quest
- Lv. 70 to start the hard mode

This quest is long and consists of many stages which differ depending on the path you take.

Once you choose a path, either Nice or Naughty, you won't be able to change.

However, both paths will have fights in the Chamber Room.

There are two level of difficulties for the Chamber Room battle: easy and hard.
Easy must be completed at least once in order to complete the quest.
Hard is optional, but recommended as it will affect positively the rewards of the quest.

Helping the Christmas Spirit: Nice Path walkthrough

1.

  • (For best results on the Nice Path, complete Santa's Stolen Presents quest before or during this one.)
  • To start on the Nice Path, head southwest from the Soul Menhir in Nivalis. There is a house where the door is flanked by candy canes. This is the Christmas Inn. Enter.
  • Talk with Eljas. Ask him if he needs any help and he'll tell you that they have lost the wishlists of the children. It is your task to locate the children, collect their wishlists and return the lists to Eljas. (The wishlists will not appear in your inventory.)
  • All the children apart from two are located in Candor and take part in Ayasha's Hide-and-Seek.
  • You'll find the last two in Hurnscald and Tulimshar (Rossy and Kadiya).
  • Children are as follows:
- Kadiya (Tulimshar; head south when you leave the ferry, first house after the warp)
- Charda (Candor)
- Latif (Candor)
- Faris (Candor)
- Ghada (Candor)
- Rasin (Candor)
- Ayasha (Candor)
- Rossy (Hurnscald; head south from Soul Menhir - take a left at the end of the path. Follow the path until you get to Dimond's Cove, from the head south and left past Gwendolyn. Cross the bridge and follow the path south - you should see Rossy surrounded by some trees.)
  • After talking to all the children, return to Eljas. This is the crucial part: To choose the Nice Path, give Eljas the good wishlists and continue from here; To choose the Naughty Path, give Eljas the fake lists and then go to Balthasar.
  • Talk again to Eljas who will direct you to Chief Warrick. Talk to him and he will in turn direct you to Avalia. Talk to her then return to Chief Warrick once again.

2.

  • Now, you must give a hand to all the helpers:
- Urmas - Give him 2 Raw Logs to make an Open Present Box.
- Livo - Just talk to him.
- Reino - Give him 2 Reed Bundles, 1 Bottle of Water, and either 2 Piles of Ash or 2 Dyes of Yellow, Green, Light Blue, or Purple to make Wrapping Paper.
- Rikhard - Just talk to him.
- Osmo - Give him 10 White Furs.
- Oswal - Just talk to him.
- Veneri - Give him 5 Ruby Powders and 5 Topaz Powders.
- Taito - Just talk to him.
- Askeli - Just talk to him.
- Mo, Lorrie and Curlee - Give one of them an Open Present Box and Wrapping Paper to wrap a colored Present Box. You only need to give the items to one of them, but talk to all of them.
- Jonathan - He takes Present Boxes in multiples of five. Give him at least 15 Purple Present Boxes or 5 Yellow Present Boxes. It's easiest to collect Purple Present Boxes from Rudolph Slime. For best results, give 20 or more of them.
- Verneri - Give him 10 Acorns and 1 Iron Potion to make Roasted Acorns.
- Aaron - Just talk to him.
- Vellamo - Just talk to him, then go to Ismo.
- Ismo - He takes Candies, and this is like a Daily Quest. For best results, give him as many Candies as you can, and do so until you complete the event.

Notes: You need to be level 30 to do Ismo's Daily Quest. If you are lower than level 30 you can skip this part, however you will not get the best reward.
Hint: Be sure to talk to all helpers in the Christmas Inn and the Snow Field, even if they don't need items from you. To be extra sure, talk to them again. Be sure to click through all of the dialog at each NPC.

3.

  • Talk to Warrick again.
  • Go to Avalia, give her the required items for the Mana Battery.
  • Follow her instructions - go the Chamber Room and start the fight - you will need help.

Notes: Ask for help from other players who have either completed the quest or are at the same stage as you. If they haven't completed or reached this stage they will not be allowed to enter the room.

4.

  • The fight will start in easy mode.
  • The end of the fight will be indicated when the message, "Wow, what happened here?" is displayed (either in General or debug tab).

5. (optional)

  • The hard mode is a subquest which means it is not required but is recommended to do for the best rewards. To start the hard mode you must be level 70 and have 15 Iron Potions.
  • Levels under 70 can participate in the hard mode fight even though they cannot start it.
  • Hard mode is repeatable, and it is recommended that you participate in as many as you can to increase your likelihood of getting the best rewards. But if you have done all the prior steps correctly and completely, it is possible to get a level up with just one hard mode win.
  • Paths don't really matter in the Chamber Room; i.e., you can fight in the Evil Path fight while you're on the Nice Path.
  • If you finish the fight in hard mode after the easy mode you will not receive a message. However, if someone else has started the hard mode (regardless of whether it is your path or not) and you are in the room, and if you have not done the easy mode and you survive, you will receive the message you get when completing the easy mode.
  • Do not return to Avalia after a lost fight, regardless of how many wins you may have already gotten. Wait until after you win again, then return to her to finish the quest and receive your first reward.

Total Items for the Nice Path:

  • Helpers:
5 Ruby Powders, 5 Topaz Powders, 10 White Furs, 2 Reed Bundles, 2x (Piles of Ash or Yellow, Green, Light Blue, or Purple Dyes), 2 Raw Logs, 10 Acorns, 1 Iron Potion, 1 Bottle of Water, Candies, and 20 or more Purple Present Boxes.
  • Mana Battery:
1 Shock Sweet, 4 Empty Bottles and 10 Emerald Powders (plus 15 extra Iron Potions for each Hard Mode fight).

Helping Evil: Naughty Path walkthrough

1.

  • To start, either talk to Eljas inside the Christmas Inn, or Balthasar.
  • To find Balthasar, head south from the Christmas Inn to the Snow Field. Then go southeast, and just before the warp to the Snow Path there will be a little mountain with entry from the north side. In the Snow Cave, take the right then left fork to enter the Frozen Lake. Head northeast to see Balthasar.
  • Whether you first talk to Eljas or Balthasar, you must collect the good wishlists from the children. (The wishlists will not appear in your inventory.)
  • The good wishlists are from all the children from Ayasha's Hide-and-Seek + the sick girl in Tulimshar + Rossy from Legacy:Rossy Quest.
  • The children's names are Kadiya, Charda, Latif, Faris, Ghada, Rasin, Ayasha, Rossy.
  • For the children's locations, read Nice Path.
  • Be sure to talk to every child, then return to Balthasar with the good wishlists.
  • Go to Eljas and give him the fake lists. Then go back to inform Balthasar that you have succeeded.

Notes:

  • If you have given the fake lists to Eljas without talking to Balthasar - you must go to Balthasar as you won't be able to enter the Christmas Inn any longer.
  • Balthasar will also show you the secret entrance into the Christmas Inn. Go to the northwest corner of the Frozen Lake, and there you will see a Small Crack. Remove any weapon and shield (but wear gloves to avoid damage), and choose "Hit it with my strong fist" to enter.

2.

  • Now you have to make things worse for Santa's helpers:
- Osmo: 10 Cotton Cloths
- Veneri: 5 Red Powders and 5 Yellow Powders
- Vellamo opens the daily quest part. Talk to him before Ismo.
- Ismo: Daily quest - minimum 3 red apples (recommended to exhaust yourself)
- Do not help the other helpers.

3.

  • Go back to Balthasar, tell him that "it's a mess".
  • He will then ask for the items for the Manabattery
  • Go to the Chamber Room to fight.

Hints: Ask for help from other players who have already completed the quest. But if they haven't reached this stage in the quest they will not be able to enter the Chamber Room.

4.

  • You will start the fight in easy mode.
  • At the end of the fight you will receive the message: '"Wow, what happened here?"' (see in general or debug tab)

5. (optional)

  • The hard mode is a subquest which means it is not required but is recommended to do for the best rewards. To start the hard mode you must be at least level 70 and have 10 Dark Crystals.
  • Paths don't really matter in the Chamber Room; i.e., you can fight in the Nice Path fight even though you're on the Naughty Path.
  • If you finish the fight in hard mode after the easy mode you will not receive a message. However, if someone else has started the hard mode (regardless of whether it is your path or not) and you are in the room, and if you have not done the easy mode and you survive, you will receive the message you get when completing the easy mode.
  • Do not return to Balthasar after a lost fight, regardless of how many wins you may have already gotten. Wait until after you win again, then return to him to finish the quest and receive your first reward.

Costs for the Naughty Path:

- Helpers: 10 Cotton Cloths, 3 Red Apples (minimum), 5 Red Dyes, 5 Yellow Dyes, 10 Pile of Ash.
- Mana Battery: 1 Dark Crystal, 4 Iron Potions and 10 Emerald Powders (plus 10 extra Dark Crystals for each Hard Mode fight).

Chamber Room

Some explanation about this part of the quest is needed.

  • You will need to do the quest in order to enter the Chamber Room.
  • After creating the Mana Battery, go to the Chamber Room and talk to the AniManOMat to try to install it.
  • It is recommended that you gather a group to help battle.
  • If at any time during a battle you see the message "Target Acquired", move out of the area you are in to another section of the room. If you do not move, your vitality will be drained from you.
  • For both easy and hard modes, there are ten rounds, each lasting for no more then 2 minutes. If you don't clear the area in 6 minutes on the last round, a large amount of Nutcrackers will spawn to clear out players.
  • You must defeat Nutcrackers, Copper Slimes and other monsters depending on the path and difficulty chosen by the quest starter.
  • For details about monsters spawned, see table below.
Name Path Difficulty
Ice Skull All Hard
Nutcracker All All
Candied Slime Nice All
Angry Sea Slime Nice Easy
Wicked Mushroom Naughty All
Bluepar Naughty Easy
Copper Slime All All

Easy mode

  • You cannot reload the fight in easy mode.
  • When you finish the Chamber Room battle in easy mode you can talk to Avalia/Balthasar to get experience, but you will not get a level up. However, you will be ready to collect presents from under one of the Christmas trees located in every city.

Hard mode

  • The hard mode is a subquest. Do it for better rewards, including a possible level up.
  • After you finish on easy mode, the AniManOMat will be empty again. You can restart the quest in hard mode with "Wait let me check if I can fix this...". For that you will need to be level 70, with 15 Iron Potions if on the Nice path, or 10 Dark Crystals if on the Naughty path (this part is repeatable).
  • When you finish in hard mode in the Chamber Room, and if you have not yet talked to Avalia/Balthasar, go to them to get experience or a level up. You will also be ready to collect presents from under one of the Christmas trees located in every city.

Level up mechanics

This quest also has a special level up mechanic, where you may get a free level-up according to how you performed. High level players always look forward to this event due to that. The mechanics for this are a bit complex.

You have a general score based on quest completions (karma is 30 points, Xmas battle hard mode is 30 points, delivering all Xmas lists is 20 points, helping all helpers is 20 points). This score will be subtracted a number between 0 and 5. Then a random number will be picked between [score, score + luck/5], if this number is bigger or equal to 80, you will get a guaranteed level up.

How to guarantee the level up (even substracting 5 points, you will have a higher number than 80):

  • Get your karma up to 30 (0 to 30 points, depending on your karma). Choosing the Nice or Naughty path will affect how it is increased.
  • Deliver ALL the Xmas lists from ALL children (20 points)
  • Help (or don't help, depending on your path) ALL the Xmas helpers (20 points)
  • Successfully complete the Xmas battle on hard mode (30 points)

How to increase or decrease karma:

  • Help the Santa Helper in Santa's Stolen Presents (-2 on Naughty/+2 on Nice)
  • Help Eljas by delivering the children's lists (-2 on Naughty/+2 on Nice)
  • Mislead Eljas by delivering the fake children's lists (+2 on Naughty/-2 on Nice)
  • Roast acorns with Verneri (-2 on Naughty/+2 on Nice)
  • Return Present boxes to Jonathan: Green, Blue or Purple (-2 on Naughty/+2 on Nice)
  • Return Present boxes to Jonathan: White or Yellow (-4 on Naughty/+4 on Nice)
  • Give Candies to Ismo (-2 on Naughty/+2 on Nice)
  • Give Red Apples to Ismo (+2 on Naughty/-2 on Nice)
  • Help Osmo with Fur (-2 on Naughty/+2 on Nice)
  • Mislead Osmo with Cloth (+2 on Naughty/-2 on Nice)
  • Help Veneri with 5 Ruby Powders and 5 Topaz Powders (-2 on Naughty/+2 on Nice)
  • Mislead Veneri with 5 Red Powders and 5 Yellow Powders (+2 on Naughty/-2 on Nice)
  • Win the Xmas battle on hard mode (+2 regardless of your side)

Rewards

There are two pack of rewards, find below more explanations about.

First Rewards Pack: Experience or a Level Up

  • Avalia : if you have done the nice path, go to see her after you succeed in your fight, she will say : "Thank you for your help, receive this as token of my gratitude".
  • Balthasar : if you have done the naughty path, go to see him after you succeed in your fight, he will say : "Revenge is a dish best served cold".

To receive experience points talk to Avalia/Balthasar after you win the easy mode, or after you win the hard mode. Of course if you have done the maximum of nice or evil actions during the quest, depending on the path that you have chosen, you will receive experience based about what you have done or not in your path : Nice or Naughty.

- Calculated EXP * 7 (for every wish list gathered)
- Calculated EXP for wish lists deliver, bedding and glitter
- Calculated EXP for finishing with helpers and creating mana battery
- Random boss points (if LVL 99) or Random EXP or a base level raise up for finishing in hard mode. "Calculated EXP" is calculated by formula ((LVL / 10) * (4 * LVL))

Hint :

  • Talking to the Avalia/Balthasar after the hard mode is the best choice to receive maximum experience.
  • To be sure to get the base level raise, finish several times the hard mode before talking to Avalia/Balthasar.

Second Rewards Pack: Presents under the Christmas Tree

The Christmas tree will give you the second rewards pack.
The rewards can be taken from only one and any one of the 3 Christmas trees
There is one in each city (Tulimshar - Hurnscald - Nivalis).
(atm we wait until 25 dec to get them, the quest was online the 11 dec)

  • 1 rare reward : Funky Christmas Sweater (nice path) or Dark Christmas Sweater (naughty path)
  • 2 uncommon items from following list : Nutcracker Hat, Amber Christmas Sweater, Red Stockings, Pink Christmas Sweater, Blue Christmas Sweater

Explanation :

  • You talk to the Christmas Tree after you won the hard mode and you satisfied properly the spirit that you served, you will receive :

1 rare + 2 uncommon rewards

  • You talk to the Christmas Tree after you won the hard mode, the spirit that you served wasn't satisfied about your actions during your quest, you will receive :

3 uncommon rewards

  • You talk to the Christmas Tree after you won the easy mode, you will receive :

2 uncommon rewards

Note : After taking from one tree, rewards can't be taken again from any tree. Which city tree doesn't matter as the uncommon rewards are given at random with equal probabilities for all the uncommon equipments.
