Doomsday Event
Start date October, 2019
End date October, 2020
Reoccuring No

The Doomsday Event was the second biggest event to happen on The Mana World Classic Server, being only smaller than Easter 2010; And also the longest duration event to ever happen on the Classic server.

Doomsday Event resumed Easter 2010 events, as well as some history disclosed before it in minor events, slowly unveiling the trama behind the fight for the Mana Source.

The Doomsday Event begun in February 2020 and ended in 2 November 2020.

Easter 2010

Main article: Event:Easter 2010

Event Time: April 2010

Spoiler warning: This section contains details that some people may not wish to learn. If this applies to you, take caution while reading this section (if you choose to read it at all).

In Easter 2010, for no known reason, Black Roses started growing on Hurnscald garden. The Old Woman collected them, and felt a bad omen coming from these strange new plants.

The players were capable of obtaining a black rose by helping the Old Woman in easter egg hunting.

When players died with the Black Rose on them, they were warped to an island outside The Mana World. There they met Classic:The Doctor, who was investigating a force draining life power from the island.

Later it was found out that Xakelbael the Dark was behind this.

After Xakelbael's defeat he left the island, never to be seen again. Once the event was over, Classic:The Doctor moved on to other travels though the various dimensions of time and space.

Doomsday Act 1: Eternal Seals

Event Time: October 2019

Spoiler warning: This section contains details that some people may not wish to learn. If this applies to you, take caution while reading this section (if you choose to read it at all).

The first act of the Doomsday Event was concurrent with the Halloween event.

During this time, the "Eternal Seals" which imprisoned a powerful begin known as "Tormenta Illia" were ruptured, allowing her to roam the world.

Tormenta would (re-)spawn in Classic:Farmsteads every hour, near a particular mushroom.

Once the Halloween event had ended, Tormenta's powers were not enough to afford the intense travel to The Mana World. As such, her appearance became much less frequent.

Doomsday Act 2: The Invasion

Event Time: March 2020

Spoiler warning: This section contains details that some people may not wish to learn. If this applies to you, take caution while reading this section (if you choose to read it at all).

The second act of the Doomsday Event, and first official successor of The Mana World's About section.

The Mage Council of Tulimshar has monitored events following the Great Quake and feel that something ominous is spreading throughout The Mana World. Monsters seem to of come out of every shadowy corner and petty dieties has begun to make presence in dark places. The council has made the call and you are just one of the many people that will battle the forces of evil, sending them back to the depths they came from.

Be it warrior, archer or mage, you have answered the call from the leaders of the world to fight back the darkness that spread after the Great Quake. Even so, the monsters strength is overwhelming, and not even Tormenta is staying behind the eternal seals any longer.

Sensing The Mana World denizens weakness, Classic:Jande, the Great Dragon of Earth and creator of the Classic:Talpan race, decided to intervene, by sending an army.

The Mana Guardians created six new permanent spawn points until April 11th, the sixteenth birthday of TMW. They would attack anyone who got close to their spawn points.

This arc ended with Jande revealing themselves, and explaining that the purpose of his invasion was to train the denizens of the world to be able to resist the next arc of the event.

Doomsday Act 3: The Great War

Event Time: April 2020 ~ June 2020

Spoiler warning: This section contains details that some people may not wish to learn. If this applies to you, take caution while reading this section (if you choose to read it at all).

This act begun with Zax De'Kagen launching a full assault against Hurnscald.

Zax's army would launch attacks every day, at two different times, and also send minions at a third time to scout the world.

Tormenta Illia also occasionally reappeared in Classic:Farmsteads. When she was left unnoticed for a few days, multiple instances of her were able to exist at the same time and place.

During most of the fights, players were able to repel the invasion with success, and keep the invaders away from towns. However, as the third act neared its end, Zax's army managed to breach Hurnscald and Tulimshar defense, creating a huge chaos which prevents anyone from entering the town for several hours. Those whom tried to adventure themselves inside, met a quick death.

Thanks to the adventurers efforts, however, Jande's army was capable to repel them and free the town.

During this event, the Sage Council was summoned. It was composed of Sagatha, Elanore, Nikolai, Morgan, Valia, Waric, Golbenez and Numa; As well as any adventurer willing to participate.

During this emergency state, the Sage Council passed several decisions and rulings concerning the mana world. The most notable acts which were approved included allowing Jande's army in towns for exchange of their military support; An act which allowed Valia and Golbenez to kidnap the soul of "traitors" during the sieges; And an act which allowed Jande to retrieve every Soul Menhir in the world, except Candor's, to make the most powerful mass-produced armor in TMW history.

Doomsday Act 4: The Great War

Event Time: April 2020 ~ June 2020

Spoiler warning: This section contains details that some people may not wish to learn. If this applies to you, take caution while reading this section (if you choose to read it at all).

This act happened in parallel to Doomsday Act 3.

It was never officially named.

This "act" was made by Zax's golems going to sieges to attempt to take over the towns.

When players defeated the golem, a Wumpus Egg would be dropped.

Jande would buy these eggs from the adventurers shortly thereafter, rewarding them with certain rares in exchange.

During the whole act, Jande researched how the adventurers would be able to stop Zax. He also made important discoveries and shared important secrets, for example:

  • The Rewrite system;
  • Zax De'Kagen's name during the Classic Era rewrite was: Xakelbael the Dark.
  • Keshlam was a city-estate which was wiped from Classic Era's history kept existing in parallel dimensions.

Doomsday Act 5: The Final Battle

Event Time: June 2020 ~ November 2020

Interlude: Part 1

Interlude Time: 12-19 June 2020

Spoiler warning: This section contains details that some people may not wish to learn. If this applies to you, take caution while reading this section (if you choose to read it at all).

The Sage Council reunited in Blue Sage's mansion, and disclosed having possibly found a way to Keshlam.

Once again using the mechanics from Easter 2010, where players dying with a Black Rose could warp to a place which no longer existed in the history, players assaulted Keshlam's Maze.

Inside the maze, five pillars were found. They contained important clues about Keshlam's History prior being removed from existence.

  • The controls panels of the maze were all destroyed.
  • Sasquatches are artificial lifeforms created in a far past to protect Keshlam - It is not known if Tengus and Mana Slayers were also from Keshlam past.
  • The maze was disconnected from at least three other sections of the complex that Jande lead the players into:The Laboratory, The Archives and The Crystal Room.
  • The maze had control over four gates, all open. However, the maze itself had no entries nor exits, and the controls were destroyed.
  • A so-called "Earth Crystal" was stolen.
  • Keshlam Maze's defensive measures had consisted of three levels; the two first levels had been defeated and the final level had not engaged the enemy.
  • The pillars said that the world's existence was threatened.

At the time, no one had any idea:

  • Who Keshlam Maze's enemies were,
  • What the real purpose of the complex was,
  • Why the defensive measures stopped midway,
  • What the Earth Crystal is or what its uses are,
  • Why Keshlam was forcefully wiped from existence, or even
  • What had happened prior to Keshlam's removal.

Also, Zax De'Kagen was nowhere to be found.

Interlude: Part 2

Interlude Time: July 2020

During this interlude, Jande and Zax vanished without leaving a trace of their existence behind, save for the absence of the Soul Menhirs and the continued posting of Jande's guards.

No one knows the reason for their disappearance, nor what happened to either of them.

Is the world safe? Or is this just the calm which precedes the storm?

Spoiler warning: This section contains details that some people may not wish to learn. If this applies to you, take caution while reading this section (if you choose to read it at all).

For a few days the Soul Menhirs reappeared and Jande's guards were missing. One manaworldian suggested this might have been due to some sort of dimensional disturbance.

Interlude: Part 3

Interlude Time: 1~24 October 2020

Spoiler warning: This section contains details that some people may not wish to learn. If this applies to you, take caution while reading this section (if you choose to read it at all).

During this Interlude, adventurers found out Jande had been kidnapped by Zax De'Kagen! The Sage's Council had assembled an internal task force composed of Sagatha, Golbenez, Numa, and others to track him down.

It was found out he was in the Underworld (also called "the Abyss" or "the damnation"), in a figment of existence where Talpans were not supposed to have access to.

It was then finally understood Tormenta's connection with the Doomsday events, and by killing them 150 times, they managed to widen the passage enough to visit the Underworld.

Kytty, Ledmitz, Omido and Regulus valiantly rescued Jande in what seemed an impossible mission at first, and after a confrontation with The Lost, self proclaimed sovereign of the Underworld.

Jande said he wanted to say something very important, but was too wounded to speak. This ended the Interlude, which was also Halloween 2020 event.

Trivia: The GM Team granted players a second chance to rescue Jande and obtain the rewards again. Omido also took part on this second attempt but had to return the prize to the team.

The Final Showdown

Event Date: 24 October 2020 ~ 02 November 2020

Spoiler warning: This section contains details that some people may not wish to learn. If this applies to you, take caution while reading this section (if you choose to read it at all).

Possibly the most complex boss battle since the last official appearance of Xakelbael the Dark/Zax De'Kagen, until this date, all fights with the final boss were controlled either manually or by a script.

At the marked date, there was a meeting and the path to Keshlam's Adventurers Guild was open, also requiring Black Roses to travel.

Players would have to explore the maze-like building, while triggering switches and collecting puzzle passwords. To trigger the switches, players would need to find a Bent Needle on a haystack.

There were also several notes in the rooms, with information about the monsters and special game mechanics which were going to take place in the final showdown.

Once all switches were flipped and the puzzle password was completed, the portal to the boss room would open, where players could face the hardest battle in TMW's history.

Trivia: matto, Hello, Nced, omido, Rill- and xarxax were the first players to complete the Final Showdown, after about 10 failed attempts. (There were other participants including Ledmitz, Jesusalva and jak1.)

The battle itself was divided in three main stages. If player died during the battle, they would be warped to a special survival map where they could also use #inma to heal players on the main map; They would be eligible for rewards as long as they survived there. All players had an unified attack delay against the boss, regardless of weapon of choice or stats.

During the first stage, monsters would be scattered over the map and Zax De'Kagen would vanish and appear randomly. Players had to defeat Zax before the numbers of monsters on the map became unbearable. Using #itenplz could virtually kill the caster as powerful passive ranged monsters were also spawned. Certain items, like Pickled Beets and Rubber Bat could affect the cycle, making Zax De'Kagen appear sooner or stay longer.

After players managed to "catch" him, he would turn in Xakelbael the Dark. While he would no longer disappear, during this second stage, he could only be hit while wet (via #kaflosh). This made a nature mage mandatory for the fight. As on the first round, monsters would keep spawning, and although less passive powerful monsters would show up, the increase in number of monsters made this an attrition battle, where players had to deal enough damage to defeat the boss before the third wave appeared.

During this stage, Zax would randomly cast Fourth Fall, which caused considerable damage to anyone using potions, betsanc, asorm, or similar.

When Zax finally got tired, the third and final stage would begin. During this mode, he would impose restrictions on the whole map. Zax De'Kagen had lots of HP and DEF during this stage. As with previous stages, monsters would be summoned every once in a while, but this time there were would be no passive monsters. The modes included:

  1. Defenseless. There would be no changes to battle.
  2. Invincible. During this mode, Zax could only be harmed with #chipchip.
  3. All damage to Zax would be halved.
  4. Zax would be immune to users using potions of any kind.
  5. Zax could only be hit while wet.
  6. Zax could only be hit by melee attacks.
  7. Zax could only be hit by Bone Knife, or by Bone Arrows.
  8. Zax would recover HP when hit by melee attacks.
  9. Zax would steal 10 GP from players every attack.

He would change the map rules with Bliss of Oblivion, which would also poison all players, kill all already spawned monsters (including summons), and respawn the monsters immediately after. This could be postponed by drinking a Mana Potion.

Note: During the whole battle, Zax De'Kagen did not attack, not even once.

After the players depleted Zax De'Kagen health bar, TMW Classic Epilogue would play out.

Cinematic Cutscene

Spoiler warning: This section contains details that some people may not wish to learn. If this applies to you, take caution while reading this section (if you choose to read it at all).

There is no concept of "permanent death" by ordinary means in The Mana World. Therefore, players would not be able to kill Zax De'Kagen from the time begin.

After all, permanent death can only be attained by really abnormalities of significance, like Nu'Rem's death. Players were not prepared to seal Zax De'Kagen, and spent too much time weakening Zax De'Kagen.

By the time the third stage ended, Zax would dismiss players with a laugh. Players were late, Zax had finished his evil plan before the players even reached the chamber, and only stayed behind because he thought it would be fun.

He then boarded an air ship, and headed to the place where Nu'Rem was buried. He also mentioned that he was once a Talpan(?) like the adventurers. After he left, his aura, which denies mana, was lifted, allowing Jande, Tal and Anon to arrive with Gema III, in hopes that the adventurers would be able to pursue Zax.

After players boarded, they would whisper about how Di'Tal had already preppared a contigency and how, for their plans, the fate of the adventurers now boarding a ship was of no consequence.

This made the premise for the players whom start on The Mana World rEvolt, which are shipwrecked on a ship which belonged to (Q')Anon.
