Golbenez came from a parallel dimension using the spiritual powers from the Present Boxes.
He then built a place of leisure, the Reid's Inn. Golbenez is the main antagonist of Christmas.
There was even a cult made by player community of enthusiasts. Check out some of his trajectory in The Mana World:

How to get there
- Head East from the Soul Menhir at Asphodel Moor.
- Go South at the first path you come to, and follow it around, entering the door.
- After entering, veer left, and go down the South stairs.
- Once you are in the kitchen, head West, through the door.
- Continue West through the next door, and Golbenez is standing there.

Christmas 2010
Golbenez was introduced in 2010. He broke barriers of space and time and took Santa as hostage.
He latter settled in Reid's Inn.
Easter 2012
He is the culprit for George the Pirate losing his first-mate, Pink Boots Hank.
Given the fact the Hank became a thief and would steal even cake - he probably was still obtaining money.
Trivia
Residents from The Mana World have difficulty pronnouncing his name.
A few forms which Santa and George refered him are: Galvanes, Gilbenos, Golbinos, Galvanis.
There is a female char as old - if not older - than the NPC with same name. Golbenez might actually be a living woman and it would not be known due to the mask they wear. The account belongs to xarxax. (PS. Oooh, room for lore expansion!!)
