The Public Task Board is a high-level overview of ongoing development tasks for The Mana World, open to anyone and everyone to edit and maintain. Each listed task is a massive undertaking, and will direct readers to other development hubs with more information for that specific task. An extra section outlining a list of active developers and a summary of their expertise is also included, but is entirely voluntary - do not add or edit someone without their permission, and feel free to remove yourself at any time.

The goal of the Public Task Board is to gather a descriptive outline of what is happening and what is needed, without mandates. Attempting to impose order on decades-old chaos won't work, so the next best approach is to map out the terrain to see where we are and where we can go.

Major Tasks

This is a list of major tasks with short descriptions (1 paragraph or less), and links to various development hubs related to it.

Wiki Maintenance

The wiki has many antiquated elements, such as out-of-date page names and incomplete information. This wiki is a major resource for new players, veterans and developers, and as such needs to be maintained by someone willing to support the community.

No known hub links.

Quest Log Migration

Many quest lines predate the addition of the in-game quest log, and as such need to be updated (or "migrated") to be listed correctly. This often requires a variable amount of refactoring, and the creation of the log entries for the client. In addition, information about how the quests are stored within tmwAthenta's database is incomplete, and documentation efforts are still ongoing.

Mana 1.0

Mana client development had stopped since 2012, but has resumed in 2024 and the client can be used to play TMW again since the Mana 0.7 release. The goal of Mana 1.0 is to restore the Mana client as the primary client for playing The Mana World.

Active Developers

Developers listed here consent to being contacted concerning the listed areas of expertise using the listed contact methods - if you have questions about or require help with a certain part of TMW, you can find someone in this list who may be able to help.
