About me
I'm a computer scientist who discovered The Mana World in early December 2004 when ElvenProgrammer announced it on the RPGDX forums. Recognizing in The Mana World the project I had been wanting to work on for about 2 years already, I immediately joined the team as a programmer.
In 2007 I finally finished my master thesis and I started working full time at Trolltech in Berlin. Unfortunately this meant I didn't have much time for The Mana World anymore. Apart from this I started putting more time into a rewrite of the Tiled map editor using Qt. By the end of 2009 I quit as admin to focus solely on further developing the client and server as part of the Mana project.
From 2011–2021 I worked as a gameplay and user-interface programmer at Ubisoft Düsseldorf (Blue Byte), and became father of three. In 2012 I helped release Source of Tales based on the Mana client and server and in later years we also built a mobile-ready client from scratch based on Qt. I slowly managed to find more time for Tiled thanks to monthly donations. During this time I've also toyed around with various crypto-currencies, which in 2023 prompted me to write Raccoin when I was asked to declare my (modest) trading profits.
I resumed work on the Mana client in January 2024, with the goal to make it once again a great way to play The Mana World.

- 2024-01-04: Released Raccoin 0.2
- 2023-08-04: Released Tiled 1.10.2
Personal goals (whenever I get around to it)
- Restore the Mana client as the official way to play The Mana World.
- Setting up a Manaserv testing server for The Mana World.
- Implement a more flexible listbox to be used in the buy and sell dialogs for showing item icons and aligning price better. Should at the same time be able to function as the base of a reimplemented ItemContainer.
- Develop a small tool for building content updates based on git revisions
- When feasible, write a browser interface that can dynamically create animated GIFs from player base and chosen equipment sprites. Would be neat to also be able to download a layered XCF file to work on it with GIMP.
