Classic:Gemstone Powders are used in several quests. Although Classic:Gemstones are valueable items, Classic:Gemstone Powders aren't as expensive as those as you can make several powders out of one Classic:Gemstone.
One of the main uses for Gemstone Powders is the dyeing of the Classic:Hitchhiker's Towel.
